The IMX487 from Sony Semiconductor Solutions is an 8.13 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor that operates at the UV wavelength range of 200-400 nm. It has a global shutter and a 12/10/8 bit ADC that provides a frame rate of 194 fps (8 bit), 193.6 fps (10 bit) and 127.2 fps (12 bit). This image sensor provides an analog gain of 0 to 48 dB and a digital gain of 0.1 to 24 dB. It can be controlled via a 4/8 channel SLVS interface that delivers a data rate of 891/445.5/594/297 Mbps per channel or a 1/2/4/8 lane SLVS-EC interface that delivers a data rate of 4.752/2.376/1.188 Gbps per lane.
The IMX487 has a built-in timing adjustment circuit, H/V driver and serial communication circuit. It uses Pregius S technology that facilitates the global shutter function and high speed operation. This image sensor supports 2x2 FD binning, vertical/ horizontal 1/2 subsampling readout modes and has a variable speed shutter function.
The IMX487 requires a DC supply of 3.3 V (analog), 2.9 V (digital), 1.1 V (interface) and 1.8 V (quadruple). It is available in a 230 pin LGA package that measures 20 x 16.8 mm and is ideal for FA cameras used in semiconductor pattern inspection, material sorting at a recycling plant, inspection of micro-defects on product surfaces, infrastructure inspections and life science applications.
