The J736 from Highland Technology is an Optical to Electrical Converter that operates at a wavelength from 805 to 1310 nm. It can handle an input optical power of 1 mW and produces a pulse adjustable output of 0.8-20 V. This O-E converter has a rise/fall time of 2 ns (Analog O-E monitor) and 1 s (HV output). It has a pulse rate of DC to 100 MHz and jitter better than 20 ps RMS. This O-E converter allows manual adjustment of the O-E discriminator threshold from 100 μW to 2 mW and is useful for distributing pulse, logic and trigger signals over long distances without the losses and noise problems associated with coaxial cables. It requires a DC supply of 24 V and consumes 100 mA of current. This O-E converter is available in an aluminum enclosure that measures 2 x 3 x 1 inch with a J732 mounting flange and is ideal for laser, laser stack, optical modulator, PIN diode and SiC gate driver applications.
