The ISOCELL JN1 from Samsung Semiconductors is a 50 Mega Pixel Image Sensor that is designed for both front and rear-facing cameras in smartphones. It has an electronic rolling & global reset shutter feature that can capture images at a frame rate of up to 10 fps in full resolution mode, 60 fps in 4K, and 240 fps in FHD. This 0.64 μm-pixel image sensor has a 10-bit ADC and delivers a data rate of 2.15 Gbps per lane through its 4-lane interface. It uses Tetrapixel technology which allows it to merge four adjacent 0.64 μm sized pixels into one big 1.28 μm-pixel to quadruple light sensitivity for brighter 12.5 MP photographs. It has an inter-scene HDR feature that can perfectly balance shadows and highlights to make photos look much more realistic.
The ISOCELL JN1 is developed using combined pixel technology that reduces the chip size while enhancing light sensitivity and phase-detection capabilities. It uses Smart ISO technology that changes conversion gain based on the environment’s illumination level to reduce readout noise and enhance dynamic range. This image sensor is based on Samsung’s ISOCELL 2.0 advanced pixel isolation technology that improves light sensitivity & color fidelity to produce rich & vividly colored images. It also has double super PD technology that focuses quickly even in dark environments to capture fast-moving subjects with ease.
