The KD9351 from KDPOF is a Fiber Optic Transceiver (FOT) that operates in two modes: 100 Mb/s mode and 1 Gb/s mode. It has a bit error rate of less than 10-12 and an extinction ratio (ER) of 15 dB (for link budget maximization). This FOT has a DAC full-scale current of 6 mA and load resistance of 50 Ohms (single-ended termination). It features wake-up & sleep modes (ISO 21111) and has an integrated EMC shielding.
The KD9351 connects with KD1053 transceiver to implement Physical-Coding Sublayer (PCS) and Physical Medium Attachment (PMA) sublayer to form a complete automotive 1000BASE-RHC physical layer. It has a transimpedance amplifier, photodiode, LED driver, and LED. This FOT has a DC restoration and automatic gain control (AGC) to maintain constant voltage amplitude. It requires a DC supply voltage of 3.3 V and consumes 37.3 mA (receiver) & 74.9 mA (transmitter) of current.
The KD9351 supports IEEE Std 802.3bv multimode plastic optical fiber and is available in a 36-pin Land Grid Array (LGA) package that measures 7 mm x 8 mm. It is ideal for communications in vehicle data networks, interconnection of infotainment, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Electronic Control Units (ECUs), and automotive applications.
