High Power CW Laser for Co-Packaged Optics
The global data center traffic has tripled in the past five years, with a significant portion residing within data centers due to factors like video, AI, and HPC. However, the power consumption of next-generation switches, such as the 51T and 102T switches, may exceed cooling facility limits if traditional construction techniques are employed. To address this, the use of CPO-based switch designs with ELSs offers advantages such as serviceability, separation of temperature-sensitive lasers, and space optimization. For 51T switches, each laser should provide around 22 to 25dBm of optical power, along with a target power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10% to achieve the desired power reduction in CPO systems.
